Admission is free on Presidents Day (Feb. 20) and George Washington’s birthday (Feb. 22). Admission tickets will be distributed on-site upon arrival; a limited number of tickets are available.

Parking

Visitor parking is always free at Mount Vernon.

There are parking lots on the east and west sides of the George Washington Memorial Parkway as you approach the entrance. If these parking lots are full, you will be directed to an overflow parking lot. Please do not leave valuables in your vehicle.

There are also spaces for RVs, motor coaches, and trailers, in the east parking lot and overflow parking lot.

Public Transportation

  • Take Metrorail's Yellow Line to Huntington Station. 
  • Exit at the lower level of the station (Huntington Avenue) to catch a Fairfax Connector bus to Mount Vernon.
  • Board the Fairfax Connector Bus #101, the Fort Hunt Line, for a 20-minute trip to Mount Vernon's entrance gate.

Metrorail Closures: Sept. 10, 2022 - May 2023

Construction on the Metrorail's Yellow and Blue lines will impact public transportation to Mount Vernon from Sept. 10, 2022 - May 2023.

September 10-October 22: There is no Yellow Line service south of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Shuttle buses are available at Metro stations. Board a bus to Huntington Station, then board the #101 Fairfax Connector Bus.

October 23 - May: Yellow Line stations will be served by Blue Line trains. Take a Blue Line train to Huntington Station, then board the #101 Fairfax Connector Bus.
